Bicycling Outing

Saturday June 7th is our next outing. Bikes will be transported from St James to Huffman Prairie. We will visit Wright Brothers historic sites including their bicycle shop and Carillon Park to see the flyer build in Dayton and flown at Huffman Prairie.

Completed permission slips are due this Monday June 2nd.

The next Troop outing is a cycling trip on Saturday, June 7, 2025

We will ride from The Huffman Prairie Flying Field, passing the National Museum of the United States Air Force, Eastwood Metro Park to downtown Dayton. We will visit the Wright Brothers Bicycle Shop and then proceed to Carillon Park.

This will be 10 - 12 miles on bicycles, we will transport bicycles in a Troop Trailer to Huffman Prairie and from Carillon Park.

This outing will explore the rich bicycle heritage of the Wright Brothers which was significant in them solving the challenges of powered flight. Huffman Prairie is where they flew until running out of gasoline, we will see the flyer at Carillon Park.

Cost for entrance to Carillon Park is the only expected cost, ($10) Scouts should plan on water on the ride, and a pack lunch at the Wright Brother Bicycle Shop which will be transported with the Support Vehicles.

This may sound ambitious, but with paved, safe, trails the distance is easy.

2025 Summer Camp - Camp Falling Rock (July 6 - 12, 2025)

Scouts, Parents and Leaders,

REMINDERs: 
  • Everyone going to summer camp needs to have a current Scouting America Medical form completed (Parts A, B and C) and turned into Mr. Ferrara by June 9, 2025.
  • We need a copy of your medical insurance card.
  • Each Scout is responsible for submitting a signed (parent/guardian and Scout) Code of Conduct form.
  • Each Scout is responsible for submitting a Camp Falling Rock Program Planning Guide to Mr. Mize by June 9, 2025.
  • If you require medications, there is Scoutmaster - Medication Administration Form that needs to be completed and turned in with the medications on July 9, 2025. All medications must be in their original bottle/container and placed in a zippered bag along with the Scoutmaster - Medication Administration Form.

Camp Falling Rock does not have discounts for a second scout from the same family. However, you can apply for a Campership before March 31, 2025 if you need assistance.

Meet: Sunday, July 6, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at the Miamisburg Swimming Pool parking lot - In Class “A” Uniform - Bring brown-bag lunch. Plan on leaving at 10:30 am.

Return: Saturday, July 12, 2025, 12:00 p.m. at St. James. Dismissal will be after the trailer(s) are unloaded and all equipment is put away.

Tenting:  
Scouts & Adults are encouraged to bring their own tent. Troop 103 Scouts will be using the troop's tents for summer camp.
Canvas tents can be made available while limited supplies last.

Camperships: They should be filled out AFTER the Scout has been registered for camp. Please make sure that the name is listed exactly as it is in the registration. An email will be sent to the unit contact if approved, by mid to late April. Camperships Due March 31st!
